As a career changer herself, Carolyn moved into cyber security 10 years ago and thinks it is a great career option for people looking at making a change and taking advantage of their transferable career skills.

Cyber security isn’t just for technical experts or people with computer science degrees. It’s for problem-solvers, communicators, critical thinkers, and people who care about making a difference. If you’ve ever felt cyber security isn’t “for people like you”, it’s time to challenge that narrative.

In this session we’ll cover:

  • The landscape of cyber security. What are the main roles people will see advertised and where is demand growing?
  • Logistics and practical questions: Typical starting salaries/hours/flexibility/remote vs in the office opportunities?
  • Who are the main employers and what skills do they most want to see?
  • What assessment processes can most people expect to experience?
  • What are the main skills you need to be great in this field/sector?
  • Which employers might be stronger targets for Brave Starts members to look at and network with?
  • If people want to explore further, what are the main routes into the profession?
